Businesses and residents in Dorset, Cornwall, Devon and Somerset with broadband connections of less than 2MB/s (2.9MB/s in Devon and Somerset) can apply for a subsidy towards their wireless broadband connection.

What does this scheme do?

This scheme can offer support towards the cost of the equipment and installation of a wireless broadband connection. If you are eligible you will be issued with a code you can redeem with SWMB Ltd, which is worth up to £315 in Dorset and Cornwall and up to £500 in Devon and Somerset.

Connecting Devon and Somerset – Hurry if you have a voucher under the Phase One on the scheme, you have to claim your voucher by 30th September.

CDS Broadband Voucher Scheme: Getting everyone connected

Connecting Devon and Somerset has committed to bringing broadband to everyone within the programme area. If you are not yet able to receive broadband speeds of over 2.9Mbps you may be able to get connected through the CDS voucher scheme.

The scheme will provide a subsidy of up to £500, in the form of a voucher code, to fund the installation of a new broadband connection, which will cover our costs, so you can get the 4G Router, 4G Antenna, and installation free of charge.

Every installation has to be able to provide a solution guaranteeing a minimum of 10Mbpsdownload speed.

Unfortunately, the current situation through the delay of Phase Two of the CDS scheme commencing means we are currently unable to give a firm date of when the Phase Two is available for residents and businesses to start claiming vouchers for the free install.

We can, however, confirm that we have already been accepted on Phase Two of the Scheme and are just awaiting news.

For further inquiries on the voucher scheme, and to register interest in any potential future relaunches of the scheme please email us at broadbandvoucher-mailbox@devon.gov.uk

Any premises that have been declined vouchers but are receiving speeds less than 2Mbps and feel they should be approved can email broadbandvoucher-mailbox@devon.gov.uk with a screenshot of their speed to have their voucher approved. All those connected through the voucher scheme are still eligible for later extensions of the broader superfast broadband rollout.

SWMB Ltd is also a member of the Trading Standards “Buy with Confidence” scheme, allowing you self-assurance that we meet these requirements through various audits, where “All the businesses on this website have been vetted and approved by Trading Standards to ensure that they operate in a legal, honest and fair way”.

For Cornwall And Dorset: Guide for suppliers delivering the Better Broadband Scheme

The Better Broadband Subsidy Scheme has been developed by the UK government to provide access to a subsidised broadband installation to homes and businesses that are unable to access a broadband service with a download speed of at least 2Mb per second and who will not benefit from the superfast broadband rollout.

If a home or business currently experiences poor broadband speeds or is unable to obtain an affordable broadband service at all, the Scheme provides access to a subsidised basic broadband installation that will offer speeds of at least 2 Mb per second.

The Better Broadband Scheme is jointly managed by Local Broadband Programmes, and the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and will run until the end of December 2017.
